Cabot, AR - This is a 7 mile two lane county road that had its historical speed limit of 55 mph peeled back to 45 mhp over its entire length. The first 1 1/2 mile is homes and a school and the Cabot PD do a great job of interpreting wreckless speeders from those just a few mph over. However, the Lonoke County Sheriff takes over just after the city limits and will sit all along the road waiting to give tickets. There is no reason this road (after the elementary school) should not be 55 mph. It is as wide as a state highway and very straight. Be careful if you drive this road, especially as you near the Cherry Rd. area.

They do this in the AM and PM at the beginning and the end of each school year. They sit back off the road and are difficult to see. They will ticket you if you're even 5 miles over the speed limit.
Guy, AR - If you are 1 mile over the speed limit, expect to be pulled over. It drops from 55 to 45 and then 35. They hide 25 feet over the road behind cars. They are very, very sneaky!

Also, I live in Guy and have to go through there everyday. I know to go by the speed limit, but I have noticed that I have been followed, and even pulled over for no reason other than they thought I was suspicious! I had a car with tinted windows, was not speeding, had my seat belt on but because I had gone to the store and bought groceries then after getting home and had to go back to town to get a lawnmower belt, came back home, had the wrong belt and had to go back to town and get the correct one...I was pulled over not for speeding, not for anything wrong on my part...but because my turnaround time was so often! I have a new car now, pass the cops here everyday, but last Friday night, even tho I was not speeding, and done nothing wrong...the cop pulls out behind and FOLLOWS me to the gas station..pulls in and watches me get out of my car and walk into the station! Even the people that work at the gas station noticed and made comments about who is he stalking now! So for the last commenter that said people only get a warning unless they are going 15 miles over...wrong the cops in Guy will follow and "stalk" you for no good reason. While I did not get a ticket ( you can bet I would have taken it to court if I would have) I still don't like the fact that I was pulled over...or followed for no good reason!

Little Rock, AR - Officers from the LRPD hide along the south side of 8300 Cantrell just East of the city's resevoir at the entrance to Resevoir Park which is convenient to pull over the unsuspecting motorists. Posted speed is 40mph but most drive 50-60mph so it is a great spot to drum up revenue for the city (almost as easy as shooting fish in a barrel). Hand held radar guns are using the Ka radar band and the officer is hard to spot from the location, using radaring the vehicle from 1-3 blocks away. This is a popular spot and is worked a few times each month.

Harrisburg, AR - Traveling west on Hwy 14, from Hwy 163 junction, approaching Harrisburg, is a curve, just before you begin to descend a steep hill. Just over the Top of the hill, speed limit reduces from 45 to 35. Due to laws of physics, there is no way to reduce speed from 45 to 35 on a decline without braking sharply. Brake lights come on, blue lights come on. And their radar guns are not accurate. I was only doing the posted 45 when I came around the curve at the top of the hill, but didn't brake sharply enough, so I was still going 43 mph when the police vehicle rounded the other curve at the bottom of the hill. He claimed I was doing 50, and refused to give me any information about his radar gun or when it was last calibrated. In talking with other people from miles around Harrisburg, I got the same response. It's a definite speedtrap.

Fort Smith, AR - South of the interstate bridge at I-540 Exit 14 on AR 253 south that changes to AR 45 as you go south. If you are heading north to enter the interstate at Exit 14, you come down a hill where your speed will accelerate unless you brake. They will catch you just after you enter the Interstate. They also stake out this area because there is a road going to the west (just south of the bridge on AR 253) where people turn to go over to the Indian Casino in Pocola.
