State Route 6

Farmington, CT - Where Rt. 6 meets I-84 East ramp, the Farmington PD sit on a hidden island of grass right at the entrance of the highway. They can get you coming either way but mostly get the Rt. 6 drivers coming from the direction of Bristol. You cannot see them until it is too late. The speed limit here is 35 MPH which is terribly low. There is a history of accidents here as well, but its not due to speed, its due to the fact that drivers entering I-84 East heading east on Rt. 6 do Not have a stop sign when entering the highway.

Fienemann Road

Farmington, CT - Copper sits either in the entrance of the shell gas station or the entrance of the subway/dunkin donuts parking lot. he is pretty easy to spot if you are looking for him. Never triggered my radar detector so I am not sure what type of enforcement is being used.

State Route 2

Glastonbury, CT - A trooper sits on the median right after Exit 8 and just before the overpass. The speed limit drops from 65 to 55 as you merge with 17. He's usually there in the early mornings and on weekends towards the end of the month. Got me good, $275 worth.

State Route 20 (E. Granby Rd.)

Granby, CT - Speed limit changes abruptly from 40 mph to 35 mph as you descend a hill. The radar is set up at the entrance to Genis Hill Rd., a dead end road, to catch you as you descend the hill.

New Britain, CT - Many times police are parked doing speed checks in the schools on Slater Road and there are many schools in a whole line of Slater Road - like 4 in a row. Also they park on side streets taking radar with another police up the road to make the stops.

Riverside Road

Shaker Road

Enfield, CT - Westbound on Rte. 220 (Shaker Road) from North Maple Street to George Washington Road. The area is 40mph. The trap is set as drivers approach greenwood street where the officer stands on the side with Laser gun. The vehicles caught are pulled onto grrenwood street so no other cars see them getting cited. If they run a trap on tuesday they will be back later in the week to do it again. I've seen the some of the same cars pulled over twice in the same week.

Old Post Road

Tolland, CT - Today, Troop C posted a car along the main stretch of Old Post Road the road for the entire day. For the last 3 or so weeks they've had one of those "you're going xx MPH" signs near the middle school and now they've decided to back it with local muscle. A relative of mine received a ticket here this morning for 10 over the limit (40 in a 30). This is much more aggressive than the usual "okay <15 limit" that usually applies out here. I drove back to the area this evening and found that they are backing up in people's driveways. They were completely out of sight and I only found the guy because of my detector. Without the detector, I would have been toast myself. FWIW, they are using K-band radar (same as the sign they posted by the school).

Interstate 91 Northbound

Hartford, CT - When coming out of Hartford the speed limit is 55mph. A police officer (sometimes unmarked camaro) sits right at the beginning of the commuter lane behind the cement divider (right near the city dump). He is hard to see until it is too late.

State Route 161

East Lyme, CT - Cops sit in a driveway on the south side of the carwash virtually invisible from the road after dark, monitoring traffic going either direction on Rte 161. Traffic generally moves faster than the posted 35 MPH limit.

Old Lyme, CT - •The Old Lyme police sit in a little Patch of sand near the gas station and across the street from the supermarket. They have nothing better to do.

Pequot Trail

Stonington, CT - Cops usually are parked at the NE corner of Pequot Trail (Rt 234) and Main St, right near the SB off ramp from I-95 at Exit 91. They catch people who dont come to a complete stop at the intersection. They also sit a little farther east on Pequot Trail in the entrance of the phone company substation catching people westbound, cresting a hill.

Route 81

Clinton, CT - There is a nursery on Route 81 down the road from Morgan High School. If you pass the high school going towards Killingworth about a mile down the road on the right is a turn in for the nurseries. They sit right there waiting. The speed limit is 45 but quickly drops so be careful.

Middletown, CT - State Troopers sit on the On Ramp to I-91 North at Exit 20 Country Club Road. They target cars as they pass the exit. Usually 1 Trooper aiming the Laser and 2-3 pursuit cars are waiting for the chase. Slow down through Exit 20. Also, DMV police sit there for truck inspections.

West Haven, CT - There is a trap in between "Turk's" restaurant and Savin Rock. They often do radar and spot-checks. They are there when many drunk drivers are expected (ie. Holidays, special events, etc).

Park Avenue

Bridgeport, CT - I spotted a major speedtrap on the northbound/Bridgeport side of Park Avenue near the Discovery Museum recently. The road is wide and pretty empty at this point, and the speed limit is 35 mph, but under the right conditions, the prevailing speed is 50 mph. There were 5 police cars pulling people over just past a slight hill that blocked the oncoming drivers' view of the group of police cars. This was on a Saturday afternoon, but other people I know have seen this enforcement at other times.

Watertown, CT - Just north of Exit 37 where the road bends to the left you'll find a cruiser sitting on the left side. No way to slow down before he's got you. Also seen multiple cruisers on the shoulder in the same area. Speed limit is 65 but going down the hill it's easy to hit 80 when going around the bend.

South Main Street

Torrington, CT - Easy to get caught in this trap because the limit near St. Francis Cemetery is 45 but right near Carvel it drops to 25.

Plum Tree Road

Long Meadow Hill Road

Brookfield, CT - While driving North,once you pass the STOP sign just north of Brookfield High School, the local Police park under trees on the side of the road or in homeowners driveways all the way to the New Milford border waiting for drivers to exceed the 30 MPH speed limit.

Danbury, CT - Trapping officer sits at bottom of Nabby Road, usually in discount liquor, shoots radar up 12 degree hill. Speed limit is 25, cars typically roll 40-50 mph due to steep hill. Also somtimes hide at top of Nabby Road (dirt road extension), waiting for cars to do a Boston roll thru stop sign down Nabby to Federal Rd.

New Fairfield, CT - From Fairfield Drive to Harvest Road (Past Miltown) they are out, sometimes parking in private driveways. They do park on Harvest Rd, and in Meadowood Farms. I have a scanner...its unually evenings from 10pm til 3am.

BLACK ROCK Turnpike

FAIRFIELD, CT - The long slight down hill stretch from Tunxis shopping plaza to Baros is a tempting coast @ 40-45 MPH but the speed limit is 25 MPH. They sit on the Baros side street with radar and nail one after another.

VILLA Avenue

FAIRFIELD, CT - When you turn onto Villa Ave from Brooklawn Ave there is a curve about a half mile down and they wait there. I have seen a couple of people pulled over there several times and I myself was pulled over this morning. the poeted speed limit is 25 most traffic flow goes 40. The police are checking this spot because they are having complaints from the residents

Washington Boulevard

Stamford, CT - Patrol Car hides in parking lot of Woodside Fire House out of the sightline of cars driving on Washington Blvd. The speed limit is 35 I believe, most cars go 50. The best defense against a ticket is just slow down to 40 mph between the intersection of Washington Blvd. and Bridge St., and Woodside Fire House (where the cops usually are) about 1/2 mile down the road.
