Louisville, KY - The Distillery Commons parking lot is where the police usually stake out to catch you. The speed limit on Payne St. is reduced to 25 mph, after turning from a 35 mph street(Lexington Rd.). It is used as an urban thoroughfare, but it does have a school and some residential, so during school hours, I agree with a lower speed limit; otherwise, the street is wide enough and has no special characteristics that make it unsafe for a moderately higher speed.

They paved the freeway both directions, and added new barriers on the shoulder. But it's complete, they just left the construction signs up (not even cones left). They will nail you at double fines. Watch the truck weigh station, that's where the so called constuction starts and that's where a cop sits and waits- looks like the usual empty car sitting- but its Not!
Cold Spring, KY - Cold Spring Police crawl this place. Ever wonder why towns where you don't think they need a lot of patrols seem to have police everywhere? Cold Spring is a fine example. If you do the posted speed limit you should be fine (40-45) but anything over will get you pulled over. Also, if you drive a nice car, especially with fancy wheels and dark tint....expect to be followed while they run your plates (this happened to me on two different occasions).

Usually you'll see the first ones around NKU (Northern Kentucky University) Campus, but expect to see more until you get to Cold Spring (when you don't see stores on either side of the street past the fire station). Don't speed and don't run red lights and you will be fine. Watch the posted limit as you first get into Highland Heights (just past NKU) as the speed limit is the lowest anywhere on US 27 in Campbell Co, around 30 to 35 mph. They position themselves so when you come down the hill going east, you can't see them because of a motel sign that is in the way. The speed limit is 35 but was 45 a couple of years ago.

Owensboro, KY - The speed limit is 30mph. It is between two roads, one a 35mph, the other a 55mph. When crossing old 231 going west there is a small hill. It is very difficult to not exceed 30 mph when turning off of 231 going down that hill. OPD hit my daughter and her husband both within a week for going 37mph down that little hill as they turned off of old 231. There is no speed limit posted on that section until you have traveled about 200 yards and then around a curve.

Elizabethtown, KY - KY state police and E-town city police patrol this under-posted interstate between and around the Wendell H. Ford Expressway and the BG Parkway interchanges. Because there are so many interchanges in such a small stretch, there are many overpasses that provide several hiding spots for police. I was nailed by an officer parked in the shadow of an overpass who was clocking speeds standing beside his cruiser with the trunk lid open, basically deceiving me into thinking it wasn't a police vehicle. I thought it was a minivan from a distance. He then stepped around the cruiser, shut the trunk and pointed me out. If you come up on this area, be aware, especially if you see a vehicle on the shoulder or median, regardless if it looks like a police car or not. KY tickets are not cheap either!

Munfordville, KY - The speed limit is 35 MPH going across a bridge crossing Green River. The bridge is a quarter mile long and in perfect condition also well lighted at night. Tthere is no reason for this speed limit to be dropped to 35 MPH. It use to be 55 MPH until the city lowered the speed to 45 MPH on the south side of Munfordville which is ok due to the intersection at highway 88 and school traffic. I think that the speed limit should be 45 MPH across the bridge not 35 MPH. the city of Munfordville Police uses the 35 speed limit on the bridge to write a lot of tickets. So everyone need to be aware of the speed trap at the soutth end of Munfordville Ky. on U.S. 31 W.
