Warren, MI - Officer sits in the Community College parking lot, typically dark car, no light bar. Posted limit is 25 on a 4 lane road with no street parking - ridiculous. Nobody goes that slow, and 35-45 is perfectly safe! Like shooting fish in a barrel, obvious revenue generator. After I got tagged at 43, I have gone up and down this road at 25, people ride my bumper, flip me off etc, I basically hold up traffic at that speed.

Hazel Park, MI - Posted speed is 25 mph on a busy commercial four-lane road. On the same and similar streets that go through nearby towns the posted speed is 35 - 45 mph. The officer offers to reduce the ticket to obstruction of traffic instead of speeding, so you will get no points on your license, but he doesn't tell you that the fine is much higher. This exact same thing has happened to other people I know.

Allen Park, MI - This is not considered a trap by any means. This is just a precaution. I have had a police officer follow me within inches of my bumper on Champaign, from Pelham to Allen Road. Ever since I got a speeding ticket in this city I go the speed limit and nothing else (not even flow of traffic, unless slower than speed limit of course). Anyway, once I passed all the stop signs and traffic signal right after the railroad tracks the officer just passed on the Left of me while I was trying to make a Left into the library. The car did not have any lights on or siren blaring nor did he once he passed me and made it through the green light at Allen road right before the light changed... I think I was annoying him because everyone on Champaign goes about 30-35 and I was doing exactly 25 The Speed Limit! This was right near a school and apartments, so what if a kid or any pedestrian were to start crossing the street? Not only this, but it's the law. Why should us "regular" citizens be the only ones that must obey it?! Well maybe it was the end of his shift... That should be a good enough reason, right?

From Vanborn to Southfield Service Drive Speed limit is not posted until you come around a corner that is nothing but cement wall. When cement wall ends there are two speed limit signs on right and one on the left, not even 10 ft from each other. There are no speed reduced signs. Speed limit goes from 45 around the curves to 35 around the cement wall turn. The parking lot is less than on block from the end of the cement wall. Be very careful! Allen Park police love this spot because of inadequate signage!

Allen Park, MI - Allen Park police are terrible in this area. Speed limit is 70mph. They don't tend to bother you running 75, but above that and you're begging for a ticket. Police lights are under the hood and in the windows, not atop the vehicle. This makes it more difficult for police to be noticed.
Dearborn Heights, MI - When using the turn lane from southbound Telegraph Road (US-24) to westbound Ford Road (M-153), there is a cop sitting in the parking lot of either the bank or the abandoned restaurant adjacent to the intersection. He looks for people who run or "roll through" the stop sign. There is no line painted to determine where you should stop, and the stop signs are actually close to the road itself. I got a ticket for "rolling through" the stop sign, even though I had to come to a complete stop - six cars ran the red light, thus rendering a "roll-through" impossible - I would have been killed on impact. Be sure to come to a complete stop.

This area has the reputation as the one of the most ticketed stretch in Michigan. Telegraph is difficult because the speed limit on Telegraph varies.

Detroit, MI - There is a new program going on in MI, "Click it or Ticket" and you would think this is Detroit's only means of survival? I'm describing just the Warren-Evergreen area, but I'm sure they have this set-up all over the city. They (Detroit Police)have one scout car that sits with radar and watches for drivers without their seatbelts and speeders, about one block away or in a parking lot in this case, it was the drive-thru at the CVS pharmacy they have three or four patrol cars in line to get any speeders or seat belt violations, this means they pull over three to four cars every ten minutes, I counted fifteen cars in twenty minutes while I was at this CVS. I think this is pathetic Detroit has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, and not to mention our insurance rates are among the highest in the country, for the police to be abusing its citizens in this manner is very frustrating.

Clio, MI - What we have here is nothing but a money making speedtrap. The speed limit is 25 miles per hour. This is a full four lane city street. Any time of the day you can travel this one mile stretch and see a car pulled over. With usually only one cruiser on duty it is not hard to see that the rest of the city has very little police protection. This street is marked Zero Tolerance of the 25 MPH speed limit. The downtown area is marked between 40-30 MPH on M57. Makes sense to me. The Police will argue that downtown is a state hwy and it cannot be marked any lower. I would like to know just how many peoples insurance rates have risen because they drove a few miles per hour over the posted 25MPH and were given points on their driving record. In all my life I have never driven in a town where so many tickets were issued in a one mile stretch. There is a new Wal-Mart outside of town and you do not have to drive Mill street in Clio to get there. Just another reason not to shop in the city of Clio.

On Cork, I was one of about 6 cars pulled over and lined up to receive tickets. I was keeping up with the flow of traffic and was no way driving recklessly.
Kalamazoo, MI - Westnedge and Park split at the top of the hill, which is quite long and steep, and if you don't hit your brakes, you will be going well over 50 mph with the intersection of Crosstown Parkway at the bottom. They sit at the bottom of the 30 mph hill on the RH side in a driveway to a parking lot. Whatever they are using, it is completely non-detectable by a good (Valentine 1) radar detector, as the cop pointed his gun directly at my detector right through the windshield and it never even went off. The cop that normally has this is actually fairly reasonable, but will write you a ticket without being snotty about it. He will tell you about the safety issue, and if you look around, he's actually correct. Take the ticket to court, and you may be able to have the points reduced, but good luck on the fine itself. Just slow down to the posted 30 mph. and you won't have an issue.

Grand Haven, MI - US 31 S between Robbins Rd. in Grand Haven and Holland, straight and safe, a 55 posted limit on a highway that also serves semi traffic. This is the only route between Grand Haven and Holland, and the morning traffic is frequently heavy, with cars sharing two lanes with semi drivers. The Grand Haven PD and the Ottawa county SD hide their vehicles between stands of pine trees on this stretch, at all hours of the day and night. They particularly love to ticket drivers who are trying to get around slow moving semis (an extremely aggravating problem, especially during the morning commute). This stretch of highway brings in significant revenue and the officers will not hesitate to pull you over and slap you with a ticket for 1-5 over... I have seen the same officers ticketing different drivers only five or ten minutes apart on both sides of the same stretch of highway. The officers use rader and they also track... and they do tend to exaggerate, regarding your actual clocked speed.

Muskegon, MI - Police will inhabit the pull-through connector (turn around) on I-96 west of the Fruitport exit to catch speeders as they come west into the Muskegon area. The lane is wooded and difficult to see a police car as it sits with either radar or laser pointed back down the west-bound lane. I never have seen them check the eastbound side, but they easily could!
