Police park their motorcycles over on the side of the street where you can't see them very well and run radar and then run out in the street and flag you down to write you a speeding ticket. They patrol that area frequently during the morning rush hour and then around lunch, especially at the end of the month. No tolerance either!

Heading East (toward Hwy. 471) on Luckney Rd., at Proctor St., the speed limit decreases from 35 to 30 mph, at the top crest of a hill. Once you crest the hill, the police are sitting in a pullout on the right (south) side of the road, and they get you with radar as you come over the hill. The problem is that the decreased speed limit is posted at the Crest of the hill, and there is no possible way that you can decrease from 35 to 30 before the officer gets you with the radar. And, all this occurs within 100 yards of the end of Luckney Rd at the Hwy. 471 intersection!

Watch out coming either West bound or East bound on I-10 near the Cowan and Loraine exit. There is a GPD Dodge Charger that waits at the bottom of a hill after a bridge. He shoots rear K band and most people cannot see him until they are right on top of the bridge and for those who do not see them their speed may increase as they approach down the hill. He has been known to be there during the day but most of the time at night.

Police sit on either side of the over-the-railroad bridge waiting for the vehicles to descend, knowing that it is very hard to maintain 30mph. My vehicle will accelerate from 30mph to 38mph with the cruise set at 30mph,so, if you are doing 35mph when at the crest of the bridge, you will certainly be going 40mph or more and WILL contribute to the city's "fund-drive"

Speed limit of 30 mph is posted on a rural road with no houses or business in site. This has been done since the city incorporated this section into the city limits. The county road had a speed limit of 45 mph which is well known, but suddently the limits changes to 30 at the bottom of a hill and when you reach the top of the next hill the city police are set up with radar.
