Enforcement has started using a large speed trap against vehicles traveling north on US515/95 between College Drive and the 215 interchange during the AM hours. They're timing vehicles via aircraft and/or an observation point at Black Mountain and radioing instructions to a team of 8 motorcycle units waiting at the interchange. When the trap is in place, there will often be 6 to 7 cars pulled over at the same time within a half mile of the interception point. The trap has recently begun operating 1 to 3 times per week.

There is a parking lot about 2 blocks South of Desert Inn on Eastern, in which a minimum of 2 bike officers hide behind a planter filled with bushes. The speed limit is 45 MPH on Eastern south of Flamingo, but switches to 35 MPH north of Flamingo. The signs are not overly visible, and there is no change in the quality of the street. If anything, the street is wider and better kept than any other part of Eastern. I've never been pulled over there, but I see people pulled over almost every day.

Watch out driving on Torrey Pines between the overpass over the 95 and Charleston Blvd. I have seen Metro there (usually motorcycle cops) running radar. When you are traveling south on Torrey Pines and crest the overpass the speed limit changes in the middle of the overpass from 35mph to 25mph. People are usually driving 20 miles over the speed limit. The motorcycle cops will hide behind cars, sit in the parking lot of Garside Pool, or the school parking lot, or in the parking lot of Rose Warren Elementary School. I have seen Metro there at all hours. If you speed on that section of Torrey Pines chances are you will get a ticket.

Very sloppy to say the least, especially hot spots are the new round about, the city of Fernley police are very reasonable, the sheriffs office is simply out of control. The n.h.p in the area Well lets just say they are never having a good day, the city can't be hurting for that much money there are new houses popping up every where paying tons of taxes. It's time the city of Fernley started policing its own streets instead of farming it out to untrained and unprofessionalism. In turn a few giving all law enforcement officials an uphill battle.

About 3 1/2 miles south of the actual town, on US 95, is a "City Limits" sign. The town itself is so obviously well in the distance, and your surrounding area so completely barren, that your first reaction is that the sign is some kind of joke. Then---the SPEED LIMIT 25 sign appears. You now have 0.5 seconds to react, by slamming on your brakes or throwing out an anchor. Otherwise---be prepared for an encounter with a grinning cop, who has been waiting just over a little rise (with all his lights off, if it's at night). If you examine this portion of the road and the placements of the signs, it becomes evident that those placements were carefully selected for maximum deception.

As you are coming down the hill, from say the Skyline area toward Kietzke, It's a very steep grade and slowing down immediately is almost impossible. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. These 3 motorcycle cops hide off of McCarran

25 miles and hour from just before Conway eastbound past the school zones which are 15 miles an hour during school sessions. Ridiculous to have those kinds of speed limits with modern vehicles. Mechanical brakes went out 60 years ago, but the ridiculous 15 mile and hour school zones remain. Nothing but a revenue generator for a bloated bureaucracy.

Motorcycle cop with radar gun sits in driveway of Ballpark Market or near Walgreen's. There is a short stretch (maybe 3-4 blocks) of Moana Lane west of S. Virginia that is only 30 mph. The rest of Moana is 35 mph. There seems to be no logically reason

At the concrete V formed between the right lane of S-bound I-395 and the on-ramp from Damonte Ranch Pkwy, a NHP likes to hang out in the morning. It's difficult to see the vehicle sometimes, especially if you're speeding :). Never seen any action but frequently see the vehicle.

I was just hit twice with LIDAR five hours apart, once traveling South while merging onto 395 and once going North on 395. I did not see anyone and was wondering if anyone here has any info on this? Curiosity is making me wonder! Next time I am down the hill in Reno, if I get hit again, I will investigate it and post what I find. Thanks guys and gals!

In the shadows under the only bridge along I-395 in both directions, NHP is waiting for you! They hang out underneath the exit for the Bellvue exit, sometimes in the median, sometimes on the sides of the road. They nail both directions of travel although they tend to concentrate on N-bound traffic. Stay under 80 and you're probably OK.
