Amherst, NH - 101A passes through a congested retail area with numerous stop lights. The posted speed limit is 40. Traveling west, the motorist finally leaves the congestion behind at WAL-MART. The speed limit remains 40, even though there are few buisinesses and no stop lights, but after a mile the speed limit drops to 35.

Merrimack, NH - When approaching Exit 11 heading north, the trap is just before the exits turn off. When heading south, there are numerous locations cruisers sit at along the highway just before Exit 12. Between Exit 11 and the toll booths after Exit 12 I have counted atleast 4 locations designed for officers to sit. The one before Exit 11 is the most used. During heavy traffic do not drive in a way that would make you stick out from the rest of traffic, and stay under 80 MPH, regardless of tailgaters. During light to almost no traffic try to stay atmost to 70-75 through this area.

Meredith, NH - This trap is going west on Rt 25 in Meredith, right as you're about to go down the hill into town. The limit drops suddenly, is poorly marked, and I ALWAYS see a cop hiding right where the limit changes. To slow to 30mph going downhill, you literally have to jam on the brakes.... I've been stopped there twice, once at 5AM and once in afternoon. Beware!

Moultonboro, NH - The speed limit on Route 25 is 50 MPH until you get to downtown Moultonboro. It comes up fast after the road curves and the reduced speed limit of 30 MPH is poorly marked. The Moultonboro police wait just around the bend and pull you over. Most victims are tourists in this vacation destination so they are less likely to fight the violation in court. I did and was able to reduce the penalty. This reduced speed limit is not necessary and is primarily a "revenue enhancement" for the local budget.

Newbury, NH - Southbound. About a half mile after the Mt. Sunapee roundabout, speed limit jumps from 35 to 50. About 1.5 miles further, it drops to 30 on a downhill. There are warning signs well ahead, and there's good reason for the speed drop... suddenly lots of pedestrian traffic crossing the highway. However, the cruiser parks on the east side (left) of the road, which is several feet below the road grade, with the lights dim or out, and I disagree with that tactic.

New London, NH - Leaving Interstate 89 at exit 11 onto NH 11 northeast bound, speed limit is 35 MPH, but rises to 50 MPH in less than 300 yards. NH 11 is one lane each direction. In under 500 yards speed limit drops to 35 MPH. Just before the speed limit drop, NH 11 widens to 2 lanes northeast to allow passing on uphill which starts here. In the process of passing slower moving traffic, the 35 MPH speed limit is generally exceeded. Police position themselves with radar guns on Rowell Hill Rd. near top of hill. They just walk out into travel lanes and flag speeders to stop. Continuing NE on NH 11, speed limit rises to 40 MPH in under 1/2 mile and then to 55 MPH.

But you are going 50 mph for a good stretch but then suddenly you have to slow from 50 to 35 very quickly, while going downhill, in anticipation of the lights.
Dover, NH - This trap is set up in the southbound breakdown lane (for southbound traffic only) as you bank to the right - immediately after the On Ramp traffic from exit 9 (Indian Brook Dr).
Freedom, NH - about 1/4 the time I go by there is a cop in the bushes at the bottom of a valley to get you speeding. Limit is 30mph even though there are no residences allong the stretch they sit at. If you get a ticket FIGHT IT, they are lazy and when I went to court the cop forget the street it suposedly happened on.

Rochester, NH - This trap is located on the Spaulding Turnpike (Rt 16), south of the Rochester toll. As you crest the rise from the tool booth, headed south, and start down the other side, there is a turn around for state vehicles. The Police sit here, and shoot in either direction, depending on the time of day. It's a pretty straight shot, so it's hard to see them, until your eyes can adjust to the traffic flow. The speed limit is 55, on a 4 lane highway ! Of course, locals know this tactic, but others unfamiliar w/ this route are at risk.

Rochester, NH - This one is like the other listed on Rte 16, just south of the Rochester Toll Booth, but not in the median. This one is on the South Bound side, AFTER the "Authorized Vehicles Only" turn around / speedtrap, in the breakdown lane at the crest of the hill. I've seen troopers standing next to their motorcycles w/ radar guns and outside cruisers with blue lights on - but the trunk lid fully open; obscuring the lights. Seen on Sunday PM full daylight hours.

Hampton, NH - NH State Highway Patrol will sit under the three-four bridges on the northbound side of 95North after the Hampton Toll booth, taking speeders zooming out of the tolls. They seem to go after those exceeding 75mph. You really can't see them, and I've detected both instant-on radar and laser. Watch it!

Kingston, NH - With the new High School being built on Rt 111, there is heavier traffic on Mill Rd since it is a quick route for students/parents coming from Southern Kingston and Newton. Police can always be found on Mill Rd. either parked at the Church midway down the road or at the sand building near the end close to Rt 111. Keep it slow as they are out in force.

North Conway, NH - As you reach the end of the commercial strip in North Conway, there is a set of lights. Turning to the left takes you toward Fryeburg. ME., and going straight ahead takes you toward Conway Village and the Route 16 South artery. After cresting the hill after the light going toward Conway, there is a straightaway that has a confusing set of posted speed limits (45 mph to 40 southbound, 45 to 35 northbound with areas overlapping). Traffic stops at the scenic vista near the center of this route are incessant, and mainly target commercial vehicles. I have seen such stops go on for 2 hours or more. However, Any vehicle is subject to pulled over by either Conway PD, NH State Police, Carroll County Sheriff's Dept., or NHDOT.
