It is also regularly patrolled just south of ninth all the way through 33rd because, again, the 35 MPH speed limit is ridiculous.

Arcadia, OK - Got a ticket for 1 mph over the limit. I told the officer that 1 mph was below radar's margin of error & I would fight the ticket. He confidently said that I would lose (I did). 1 mph tickets are not a safety issue & are for the sole purpose of generating revenues. I now drive 10 mph below the limit there (I am a rolling traffic jam) and refuse to patronize any business in this tiny town.

NW 23rd Street

Bethany, OK - Mr. Speed catcher cruises between Council and MacArthur in what was a hospital zone, which has been closed for a couple of years. However the speed limit is still 35 mph unlike all other street postings of 40 mph. So if you are cheating the norm by 5, now you're 10 over. Easy money!

Chickasha, OK - While coming home from Tulsa I was stopped in Chickasha, Oklahoma (South of Oklahoma City)_. Young man was amicable until I asked to see the radar. Then he got nasty. Called his supervisor, polite but unhelpful, avoid Chickasha and Verdon, Oklahoma like the plague! Young man clained I was doing 42 in a 30, hard to believe given I had just had a flat repaired and was driving extra careful. Oklahoma has too many speed traps, one more reason I am leaving this state.

Norman, OK - Travelling southbound, Flood Ave. begins as an exit off of I-35 south with only a few traffic lights between the ramp and Rock Creek. If the lights are aligned, the tendency is to maintain highway speeds all the way. At Rock Creek, the limit suddenly changes to 45, that is where the radar is. If not there, they are frequently sitting one light further south at Lexington or Westheimer where the limit is reduced to 35 mph.

Harrah, OK - Speed limit on most sections of this road is 65 mph. Three miles east of Harrah the speed is reduced to 45 mph and is monitored by the Oklahoma County Sheriffs dept. The speed limit is increased to 55 mph when you reach the Harrah City limits. The section at 45 mph is rural and not populated.

We live front Harrah Rd. in this area and see people all day & night long being stopped. People want to speed through here because it is a 4 lane HWY & open, but they mean business! (A lost out of state visitor was stopped twice in a 5 minute span by 2 different patrol vehicles; one Harrah Police & the other OSD/OHP.) Warning: The posting of 45 mph means that! Luther, OK - Luther Police sit within this two mile section all times of the day or night, and they usually have at least two officers on duty. If you are the only vehicle on the Highway at the time they are out, they will immediately pull in behind you and run your vehicle tag, and find a reason to pull you over. I've been stopped there more than once, and I try to avoid going through there whenever possible. I'm a police officer, and completely disagree with their tactics for traffic stops.

Rush Springs, OK - If you go through this intersection in Rush Springs, Oklahoma on Highway 81, you will probably get pulled over by the police officer even if you are only going a few MPH over the speed limit. The tickets given at this location must be extremely high because there has always been someone pulled over at this intersection when I drive through it. There is another factor in the tickets given at this area though, the ticket given to my husband was about 10 MPH higher than the speed that he was actually driving. I was in the vehicle and witnessed the whole incident.

Yukon police hide behind the trees and bridges around the river. They also follow very closely behind cars in front of them hiding from cars coming the other direction. They will nail you !

Sulphur, OK - They sit at the Chickasaw Indian place located on Oklahoma and East 4th Street they'll hide so they cannot be detected and Blam! you've been trapped and smacked with a heavy citation and fine. They also sit in the church parking lots located all along East Oklahoma. So when you come into Sulphur off of Highway 7 I urge you to use extreme caution as they are ticketing the heck out of people. It doesn't matter who you are, Where you are going, Even if its an emergency, It doesn't matter. You will still get ticketed. These are some trigger citation happy writing cops now. I am warning you. So please be careful.

Union City, OK - Traveling east out of Union City towards Mustang. Speed limit changes from 65 to 55 without warning and not even entering a town. Union City police will hide in a driveway and radar you. I don't know how big the Union City limits are but they must be huge for this area to still be within city limits. Officer told me he would flip a coin and I would either get a $20 ticket or $120 ticket for doing 65 in a 55. I got the $120 ticket. Asked him why the speed limit change but couldn't give me a reason.

Oklahoma City, OK - On eastbound 10th street, the speed limit abruptly drops from 35 to 25 mph, in spite of the fact that it is 4-lane divided with a grass median. The speed limit 25 sign is near a tree and not obvious. The OU Med Center campus police frequent this area in the morning while OUMC employees are on their way to work, wait in a parking lot just east of Lincoln for people still doing 35 when thy enter this area. The fine for 35 in a 25 zone is $152.

Oklahoma City, OK - I was going home from work one evening when I was passed by a fellow motorist between I-44 and May Ave on Hwy 37 (SW 134th St). This other motorist was obviously going faster than I was, but yet I was the one that got pulled over for speeding. The officer stated that I was going 61 in a 50 mph zone. I mentioned the other motorist that had passed me earlier had to be going faster, and the officer matter-of-factly stated that the other motorist was clocked at 57 (which is still speeding by the way), but he said I was doing 61. If one does the math in this situation, that means I should have overtaken the other motorist, however I did not. The officer was quite annoyed that I dared to question him and proceeded to write me a ticket instead of considering the facts of the situation, that maybe I was the one doing 57 and the other motorist ahead of me was doing 61, but instead he decided to pull me over since I was easier to catch up with? Obviously I know that doing 57 in a 50 zone constitutes speeding, however shouldn't first person they clock as speeding get the ticket? How do they decide WHO gets ticketed...by the type of car they drive? Older car versus a newer car? I'd love to know the answer to this one!

OKCPD and DCPD marked cars are less common. Use caution nearing any intersecting road and be especially careful approaching the refinery as they hide behind the large trucks parked there.

Nichols Hills, OK - I live in the area and I drive through Nichols Hills every week. The speed limit on Penn drops from 45mph to 25mph as you enter Nichols Hills. The speed limit feels very slow, it is hard to stay under 25mph and they are always patrolling. Nichols Hills writes a lot of tickets. It is my belief that they want to discourage people that don't live in the area from driving through their little town.

Moore, OK - This trap is the outer most limit for the City of Moore. If you are going North on Eatern just past 27th you are still in Moore city limits and the speed limit is 40mph. As you come across the nice asphalt of Eastern you cross onto some rought asphalt and that there is the city limits cross over to where you cross into OKC limits.

Moore, OK - Beware for police officers on 12th street on Friday and Saturday nights. If you are observed slowing down going over the rail road crossing they will pull you over for suspicious driving. I know it's not right to cruise up and down the street but Moore is getting ridiculous with things. Elmore City, OK - I pulled into the local convenience store for my wife to use the restroom. As I was waiting out side my truck I noticed that they local cop parked just out of the way in the dark. As I left the store I was pulled over and asked for my DR and insurance. As this was happening a 2nd officer taped on the passengers door to ask my wife for her DR. As this was happening a "drug Dog" was circling my truck. The dog supposedly "HIT" on my truck. After a very unorthodox search of my truck including doing a "TEST" on a substance in my sons tote bag It was actually left over crumbs from a 6 month old Cinnamon roll. and tearing our belongings apart they said we can go. This is the biggest bunch of KEYSTONE COPS I HAVE EVER SEEN. Ask what we were doing with "so many" Prescription drug with our name on them and in the proper containers stated "what is this a rolling pharmacy" had to explain to this 23 YR OLD cop our medical background and why we needed these Prescriptions. It was about 32 degrees light freezing rain howling wind and this wannabe may the comment as I was in the back of his car about how cold it was and he needed gloves. In the mean time my wife had to stand out in this cold rain with only a light jacket and no gloves. She asked why we were pulled over she was told to shut up and stand back.This whole stop was humiliating,unlawful and degrading. We were never told why we were pulled over a clear violation of the 4th amendment. A total on 4 cops were used in this stop. wonderfull use of our Tax Dollars.

Lawton, OK - Every few months or so the Lawton PD receives federal money to set up a speed trap at Rogers Ln. and Ft. Sill Blvd. This only happens a handful of times per year, but the policeman on the Ft. Sill Blvd. overpass radios to his buddies in place on Rogers Lane. It's not unusual to see 8-12 patrol cars silmultaneously in action.

Hennessey, OK - 81 hwy heading South of Hennessey, law enforcement sets, usually on the east side of the road. There are a lot of oil field and trucking business and if you are not watching for the marked vehicle then it is sometimes hard to see until it is too late. Speed limit is 45 but most everyone is trucking along at 55. Most of the law enforcement in Hennessey is younger fellows that seem to have cocky attitudes. They also like to sit at the quick stop on the corner of 81 Hwy & 51 Hwy in the early hours, around 4 to 6 am. There is a 4-way stop and if you don't completely stop and pause, even if there is no other cars in site, you will get a ticket for running a stop sign. After my ticket, I went into the quick stop and there were locals complaining about their tickets... so he is after anyone he can get his hands on.

Catoosa, OK - About 2 miles east of where the Will Rogers Turnpike separates from State Highway 66 going east through Catoosa, the speed limit is lowered to 40 MPH, this is a 4 lane divided highway. At the end of the speed zone, there is a hill and that's where the police wait, with their radar, to get a vehicle speeding up coming down the hill. I was ticketed doing 55 MPH "coming down the hill" in a 40 MPH speed zone. This is no more than a half mile before the speed limit is posted at 50 MPH. Going to court over this ticket, I found almost half of those there where ticketed in the same area. Also, if you plead 'not guilty' or 'no contest' you do not get your case heard then, you have to come back a 2nd time. If you are found guilty at that hearing, you will pay an extra $39.00 to $169.00, over and above the original fine.

Owasso, OK - The speed limit on N Garnett Rd (4 lanes, plus wide center turn/median lane) is set to 35 MPH. In most other areas, this would probably be best set to 40 or 45 MPH. As you drive north from 86th, you come around a gentle curve to the left, and the enforcement area is just north. Tulsa, OK - Highway 169 South (the most terrifying drive in Tulsa), leads into a section of the Creek Nation Turnpike that skirts the southern edge of Tulsa. While 169 is sporatically patrolled (and ineffectually as well - sorry! You take your life into your own hands if you drive 169!), the Creek is more regularly monitored. I don't mind at all - the crazies that flew by you, blowing your doors off on 169 are generally caught on the Creek between Memorial and Yale as they continue their supersonic trek on this pay road. This is actually the same area that had reports of sniper activity against SUV's some years ago, so I'm doubly glad to see it patrolled. These are righteous busts! Slow down!

Big Cabin, OK - Out-of-staters: Beware of the trap in this area. As soon as you come off of the turnpike, the speed limit is 45. I would stay 45 the entire time, because as soon as you come off of the turnpike and go south on hwy 69, it slowly climbs up to 60 again for a few hundred feet, then drops down, again. When I exited the turnpike, I had no way to know the speed limit for this stretch of highway in the middle of nowhere. I stayed at 50-55 just to be safe. And, to my surprise blue lights start flashing over the hill. Big Cabin said he clocked me at "60".

Morris, OK - Coming into the city of Morris going east bound, just before the 4 way stop sign. There is a carwash, 8 times out of 10 there is a police officer there. Even if you are not speeding they will look for a way to pull you over. Okmulgee, OK - US Hwy 75 on the north side of Okmulgee is a normal hang out for officers. When traveling north & south bound on hwy 75 on the north side of Okmulgee the speed limit is posted at 35mph. I have not received a citation in this area as I am a local but every time I go into Okmulgee I see a motorist pulled over. McAlester, OK - This Town i used to live in is littered with patroling officers. The Speed Limits Range from 30 - 40 MPH. 33 in a 30 zone is asking for a ticket. Kiowa, OK - The speed limit on U.S. 69 is generally 60, but it slows down as the highway goes through hamlets such as Kiowa. In some places, the limit lowers to 50, then to 40. Not sure whether there was a 50-mph limit before the 40 southbound into Kiowa. I slowed down to 40 when I saw a 40 sign ahead; the ticket says 64 in a 40. There also was another car pulled over just past the 40-mph sign. I followed the post limit through town and was stopped after I'd driven back into the 60-mph area south of town.

Stratford, OK - Police cars (2) vary in location along Hwy 177. Usually sit near intersection of 19 and 177. Speed limit is 35 but when you come from 65 to 55 to 45 to 35 it's easy to get caught. Signs are too close for normal speed deceleration.

Tecumseh, OK - Late night to early morning before sunrise a cop will park west of Gordon Cooper Dr. on Bob Crouch. Speed limit will drop from 45 to 35. Will pull over and ticket for 1 m.p.h. over.

Weleetka, OK - As you travel North bound on Hwy 75 into Okmulgee, there is a rise or hill that you come over where the speed drops from 65 to 55 then 45. Okmulgee city radar cops like to set up either on the East side of the road to catch North bound traffic or hid from view in the cemetery drive way also on the East side of Hwy 75. On a humorous note, Okmulgee city cops like to set up "dummy" cop cars especially across from the Wal-Mart entrance on the East side of the road complete with two mannequins in police uniforms in the front seat! I've seen them set up a real radar cop right next to a dummy car on the North side of town, too.

Pocola, OK - I have been told by the Pocola Police Dept. Since I, Ex-Chief, at Pocola there is now a 10 contact a day quota where the officers are out arresting all they can and write everything that is a violation. They have been hiding behind blind corners and in areas that they can't be seen. There are also complaints that there are several ticket's that were somewhat made up so Officers can make their quota and not get in trouble. For the first time in years you can hardly drive through town without seeing someone stopped, especially in the mornings during work traffic.

Keota, OK - Speed limit is 25 MPH posted thru "downtown" Keota, a tiny town that may have 800 or so people. Speed limit sign for westbound traffic is hard to see, and officer is sitting at downtown service station. Ticket is predicably steep (125 dollars for 5 MPH over). Town is profiting on bad sign placement.

Moffett, OK - If traveling through Moffett Do Not speed even just a little because the officers there Will pull you over and Will be very rude to you. They write tickets 100% of the time. If you do get a ticket in Moffett and you have time to contest it do it. Also, when you are stopped you do have the right to ask the officer to see the radar gun before he writes the ticket. When you go into court you can supoena the radar calibration and the officers training record and qualification to use that type of radar. If either of these can not be produced then you will be off the hook or if the radar has not been calibrated (most states its 10 days before your being stopped) within the manidated time frame then your ticket will also be thrown out.
