Aurora, OR - East of Hubbard Cutoff Rd. NE, heading into the town of Aurora, OR, open roadway, posted 45mph, changes to 35mph with no warning, downhill, then changes to 25mph with no warning. Quite easy to exceed new posted limit. County Sheriff and Aurora police take turns enforcing. Wear your seatbelts and forget about talking them out of it. Unmarked cars are common along with hidden radar units.

Beaverton, OR - This concerns the infamous Beaverton "Red Light Camera". You have exactly 3 seconds to go 111 feet across the intersection under the yellow which hits fast and turns red before you get through the intersection. Some have hit their brakes hard anticipating the super quick yellow only to get rear ended violently which really should cost the City in a lawsuit, and I'm sure eventually will. Many good citizens with excellent driving records which include me, have been caught by this speedtrap and had to pay the $256.00 dollar fine. Even the City Police hate this area and the damage it causes the city which only get 10% of the "take" from the owners of the four huge cameras on poles which crowd the very center of the sidewalk and are in the right of way for anyone walking on those sidewalks. Where is the ADA on the placement of these objects? If you or I stood on a street corner with a high powered flash camera and then flashed it in drivers eyes at random, how long would we stay out of jail? Studies have proven that a longer yellow actually produces fewer accidents as well as less ticketed drivers. Shame on you Beaverton.

Hillsboro, OR - New to the area and driving west on TV Hwy, I was turning right onto Cornelius Pass north. A motorcycle cop trap caught me turning right using a bike path lane, as cars routinely do everyday. (I counted 36 in 15 minutes). The bike emblem was painted 250 feet from the intersection and the "bike" path was 8 feet wide, appearing to be simply a median on the side of the road that could be used for turning. In spite of being poorly marked as a bike path, (as opposed to other bike paths, that I took pictures of that were narrower and painted emblems closer to the intersections) the judge in Hillsboro sided with the cop (good ol boys club I suppose and revenue for the City of Hillsboro). I wrote the mayor, and since the judge didn't care about correcting a problem that unfairly costs drivers, I contacted ODOT and they painted the bike emblem closer to the intersection. The next day, my husband saw a similiar sting on TV Hwy and Century Blvd. What ever happened to "warnings?" Greediness and in the case of this judge, "indifference", I suppose. Sad that judges can make a difference, but choose not to.

Clackamas, OR - Police (could be County or State can't tell) are riding in totally unmarked "regular looking" imported cars like Nissan Murano's, Dodge Ram Full size lifted trucks, etc. These cars have normal license plates (not marked as public owned) and generally have very dark tinted windows to hide the low profile red and blue christmas tree lights hidden inside behind the back window. They operate on I205 between the Estacada and Oregon City/Molalla exits. In recent weeks, I have seen numerous unsuspecting people pulled over by these vechicles. I am appauled at the tax payer money being spent by law enforcement to purchase these type vechicles not to mention the "sneakiness" of the whole thing.

Portland, OR - Beware of Hwy 26 between downtown Portland and the Oregon coast. The highway is one giant speedtrap, starting with aggressive ticketing as soon as you leave downtown, and continuing on the 2-lane rural section. Favorite locations in the 4-lane section are on ramps and shoulders, especially at night time. You are Not protected by heavy traffic. They will simply shoot traffic with radar and pick a vehicle from the pack to ticket. Sportscars and motorcycles are favorites. In the 2-lane rural sections, expect patrol cars towards the end of the passing zones and 4 lane passing areas, and on downhills. Here, patrol cars hide in the shade in the many pull-off areas. They are hard to spot day or night.

Portland, OR - Canyon Rd. between Hwy 26 (Sunset Hwy) and SW 87th. This area is a fairly steep hill with long curves and virtually no street lighting. Beaverton police photo radar van will be either near the middle of this stretch on either side or at the 87th ave end tucked in next to the Goodwill store. The van uses darkness and impeded sightline from curves to hide. Many, many tickets written from this location. The steep downhill with 4 lanes encourages high speeds and the uphill traffic also speeds, anticipating reaching Hwy 26. More than half of all trips this van is there.

The officer followed me through town and waited to pull me over after I left town & went past the 40 mph sign. I learned later that the reason he was following me through Amity without pulling me over was to try a catch me a second time speeding back up to 40 before actually passing the 40 mph sign and receiving a second ticket. I was fotunate to only have recieved one ticket that day in Amity, Oregon. At the time that my wife and I were driving through Amity we were looking for a place to eat & were wondering why town was looked so desserted...we know why now!

Albany, OR - As you enter Albany from the south, on Pacific Hwy, Just North of Linn Benton Community College, you pass through a gradual left-right S curve and then come to a straight stretch about 3 miles long that leads into Albany. The police will hide on the East side of the road near the pumping station and use laser on the motorists - most typically from the south direction. People are usually traveling 60mph because the closest business is 3 miles north, but the area is listed at 45mph, so be careful.

Phoenix, OR - There are many speed zones beginning on Hwy.99, when entering Phoenix from both Talent or Medford. Speeds between 55 and 20, are contained within a short area, and change rapidly. It is not as bad of a speed trap as it used to be, but it is a carefully planned out area where you must be very alert to the signs (some hidden by vegetation) and not let drivers who are on your tail cause you to speed up, as you are likely to be the one who will be ticketed for speeding, not them.

Baker City, OR - Highway Patrol Office is located in Baker City, OR. They cruise the interstate approx. 30 miles East of Baker City and cruise approx 4 miles West Of LaGrande, OR. They hide on the Westbound side at around the 104 milemarker, any time day and night. They especially patrol the construction areas and show no mercy for any speed infractions within these. They will stop you for going 4 miles per hour over the posted speed limit everywhere. Especially big trucks. And they like to hide in all the rest areas West of Baker City, OR (Around Lad Pass). Then another speed trap is located East of Pendleton,OR approx 2 miles before the first Pendleton exit going westbound, where the officer sits behind a hill (westbound)in the middle. He cannot be seen from either direction until you are right on him and therefore busted.
