Woodstock, VT - •This 4 mile stretch of Rt 4 from the intersection of Rt 12 north to and including the town of Bridgewater (West on Rt. 4 to Bridgewater from Woodstock) varies in limits from 25 to 50 mph. The limit changes are frequent and abrupt. Every time going through here I see someone being cited. Next to the center of "downtown" Woodstock at the intersection of Rt 106 is a loop known as The Green. It is two lanes wide and posted 25 mph, no passing. I missed the no passing sign in previous trips. When asked, by the officer, why was I pulled over I replied I didn't think I was speeding. She didn't have radar on but cited the no passing. A speeding ticket would have been cheaper than the $199 no passing fine. If you use Rt 89 go around this section rather than go through it. Or drive like you're a little old lady. 4/2008

Johnson, VT - •VT State Police, tho predominately Lamoille County Sheriffs Dept. Heading southeast into Johnson VT15 goes from 50mph to 35mph in farmland, just southeast of Foote Brook Rd. & 'Forget me not shop' and drops again to 25 mph just before you cross the bridge heading southeast into town, continuing up the hill out of town is all 25mph. LCSD sometimes sits in the parking lot of the fire department/municipal ofcs just before the bridge. They park on the sidewalk near Johnson Woolen mills, and near the Johnson Spring (by DJs deli) and the large shoulder area coming up the hill out of town, opposite collins hill rd. LCSD utilizes both stationary radar at points mentioned as well as head-on radar, from both marked cruisers as well as an unmarked white Toyota Highlander hybrid with green (non police) plates. LCSD seems to dedicate full time officers to constant back and forth patrols and radar along this stretch of road.

Morrisville, VT - •Biggest speed trap in the area. State police troopers, Morristown police, and Lamoille County Sheriffs Department all operate heavily along this stretch of road. Heading south out of Hyde Park village Cadys Falls road goes downhill, speed limit is 25mph. Radar locations: cruisers park on old railroad rec trail just off road (midway down hill), also at bottom of hill in the parking lot of a heating company, w. side of rd. Continuing south past hill bottom, up over hill and another curve, also shoot radar in large industrial dirt rd triangle on w. side of road (this is often where they pull drivers over to issue tickets from the hirchak and heating bus parking lot traps)-- tho they do shoot radar there as well. Continuing south around another curve, another radar location often at Thomas Hirchak Auction parking lot on east side of road. LCSD and VTSP known to use head-on radar as well as LCSD uses a new unmarked white Toyota Highlander with green (non-police) plates. VTSP also uses unmarked cars. Note 25mph zone extends south from Hyde Park Village until just before Stagecoach Rd. where it becomes a 40mph zone.
