Motorcycle officer sits across the street from Group Health and gets both eastbound and westbound traffic. If you're heading eastbound, then your speed limit just reduced from 40 MPH to 35 MPH and you're moving downhill. Easy money for the local PD.

Almost daily there is at least one patrol car/motorcycle sitting in the driveway of the park. They will sit there, at times as many as 4 patrol cars, and stop people for going over the posted 30 mph speed limit.
Anything within the city limits of Black Diamond is fair game. Most speed limits range from 25 to 35 MPH. One mile per hour over can get you a ticket. They seem to have several officers and use this for revenue generation. I drive 3 to 4 MPH under the limit. Nearly everytime I drive through I see someone getting a ticket.

In recent months, they haven't been there as often as they used to be, but they can be anywhere along the stretch between 236th and highway 99...sitting alongside the road in their dark blue cruisers, perhaps in front of another car, or off the road and to the right of the sidewalk, or on an intersecting road. Their favorite spot is towards the southernmost part of this stretch, where they often nail people who step on it to make a green light that soon switches to being red for a fairly long time. Their favorite times have dwindled to night, where they blend in, but previously you could count on a weekend morning campout. Edmonds tends to have a lot of coverage on particularly Friday evenings from this area through 212th S.W.

Have even seen a few sitting in the blocked off entrance to Woodbury. They get you coming around the corner by the Old Woodway Hs, and pull you over in the gas station's parking lot.
This is the area of Alderwood Mall Pkwy just as you descend doen the hill westbound towards 44th Ave West (Dania Furniture). The motorcycle cop usually sits in an empty driveway and clocks you if you do not slow down from 35 to 30 (going downhill). The driveway is located by Dania furniture just east of WaMu and 40th Ave W. They named the espresso stand which sites at the bottom of the hill "Speedtrap Espresso".

Speed trap is on a busy S-curve where 164th St. becomes 44th Ave W. Motorcycle officer(s) (I've seen as many as 3) will sit in the driveway midway down the S-Curve and shooting radar at motorists as they come down the hill. I've seen them pull over many motorists. You usually can't see them until it's too late, unless you know exactly where to look (see GPS) They tend to focus on downhill traffic.

When you turn off 212th (a 30 mph street) onto 52nd, 52nd is a four lane street with an additional left turn lane in the middle; even so, the speed limit is 25 but you're totally unprepared for that. Farther down the street it does become a two lane street, and the speed limit is 25 there, too. But the cops sit among some buildings on the left just after you turn onto this 4-lane marvel and they snag drivers regularly. There is a sign a block or so down that tells you there might be blind people in the area, but in the 30 years I've driven down the street I have never seen a single pedestrian.

Travelling Eastbound on Highway 2, leaving Everett, you will pass over Ebey Island. At the Y, if you stay to the right on Highway 2, there are signs that the speed limit is strictly enforced. Heed these signs. After you round the first corner, everything is usually clear. This is where folks speed up. Upon rounding the second corner, approximately 1/2 mile from the first, this is where the highway patrol sits with their radar gun. I have seen this trap almost daily for a couple of years now. Also, if you are heading Westbound on Highway 2 from Monroe to Everett, just after you pass the exit for highway 9, the road will curve to the right. A highway patrol officer sits around this corner with a radar gun also. This is in approximately the same area as the patrolman on the other side of the highway catching folks heading East.

The crosswalk is one that is rarely if ever used by school children since there's a closer one. They just wave you over. People who ignore them, they don't bother going after since they generate more revenue from the law-abiding citizens who pull over. Speed limit is 30 except it's 20 because of the crosswalk. It begins just over the crest of the hill, so you don't really notice it until it's too late.

Highway 101 speed limit is 55mph in both directions approaching and leaving this area. Within the area the speed drops to 45 mph with no real logical reason for the speed decrease evident beyond possibly a smaller area at the turn to State Route 20. There are a few businesses in the area, but are located well off the roadway. The State Patrol seems to delight in parking in front of Fat Smitty's restaurant or in the entrance to a State road maintenance lot just west of where the speed changes. This area is under Port Townsend court system jurisdiction and ticketing seems to increase as the end of the month nears - perhaps to meet income quotas. At night with no open businesses and with almost no lighting evidence of population present seems to be particularly a good time for playing gotch as those who initially slow to 45 unconsciously tend to return to 55 due to lack of any apparent reason for the lower speed limit. This trap is also mentioned secondarily on a speed trap notice for Sequim near Diamond Point. 2/2008

This "trap" is catching literally hundreds of Bonney Lake and out of town residents that happen to travel through this area. Locust Ave has at least two speed bumps on a 25mph street. In addition there is a elementary school one block off of Locust Ave. so the local city council has seen fit to add a 20mph zone for less than 1000 feet on Locust Ave. The speed limit (school zone) is enforced 6am to 6pm. We're all interested in keeping our children safe, but this speed trap isn't about keeping children safe, it's about collecting revenue and a city council that preys on it's citizens.

•Reardan's 2 or 3 man police force, primarily their only paid officer very vigilant and most of the time on the east end of town but sometimes on the west end. Speed limit drops to 30 from 60 some distance outside town. He normally works day light hours. Reserves on duty after hours. Do not go over the posted speed limit by even a few miles per hour.

A cop car will sometimes sit between the DOT sand piles to catch people coming and going. Also, two of them might sit head-to-tail at the tanning/car sales lot to catch speeders as they slow down coming around the corner into town.

•We just got home from a vacation trip to the Pacific Northwest and this area on I-90 had the most aggressive speed enforcement we saw in 5,000 miles of driving. Troopers were all over, mostly in unmarked SUV's. We set cruise control right on 70 mph. Another vehicle with out of state plates passed us going about 10 over and was pulled over by the cops in short order. Advise setting your cruise control throughout Washington state, as it has some of the strictest enforcement of any state west of the Mississippi. We did, and had a nice ticket-free vacation.

As you come into Spokane County near the landfill the speed drops from 50 to 35, there is a sign stating reduced speed ahead, which changes exactly at the landfill. Usually a motorcycle cop or unmarked patrol car.

Do Not! Speed down Van Giesen. At any time of day, police officers sit all around this street to ensure people do not go above 30MPH. They will seriously pull you over for going 31! This town is filled with way too many cops. It's not even that big of a town, so the entire police force sits on Van Giesen and spends their day pulling helpless people over. You literally just have to slow down to 30!

•There is a one block stretch from the corner of Alder and Roosevelt to the corner of Hobson&Roosevelt that is designated a 20 MPH school zone. This is not quite as obvious as some because there is no school in immediate sight. Edison school is a block away.
